The present and future generations cannot exist with the past… We invite the white madras made in house from our previous collection Karukera SS23 into this simple A line silhouette skirt, as a reminder of the past shaping what is now. The basket weave is applied using a blue denim creating the effect across the sides of the skirt.

• The basket weave structure is a reflection of the basket weaving in the Caribbean islands, that were used with leaves and branches to make roof for homes, baskets and more. It is a skill that is expressed across all the islands and was a technique embodied by the indigenous and african population. For this collection, it reflects how interconnected we all are and how many cultures came together to create the one we value.

• The Jupe has one open side with denim loops and a denim tie not for adjusting.

Hand made wire sculpture, consisting of a wire knitted neck choker, spiral shaped form in a gold and bronze tone, with crystal bead accents cascading across. A timeless bralette piece that represents the endless time that continues through generations and eras.

• The spiral is a powerful ancient symbol representing personal growth, journey of life, the evolution of conciousness and the shedding of old layers.

• The knitted wire represents the skill of the natives making wire nets to fish. Each skill on the Caribbean island is an art that gets forgotten or scarce as it doesn’t get passed onto the next. We preserve the knowledge and hopefully the skill so future generations can experience heritage.

• As part of the Fire & Return: Spirit of Vaval SS27, this sculpture represents the inner goddess that generations of women have neglected within themselves, the sacred energy they already carried but were forced to feel shame in.

Representing the Caribbean islands green scenery with the leaf accent on the deconstructed madras, made in house by the designer.

• Styled in comfort, with a lycra base, stretches with your movement and manages your bodys temperature.

• A simple tie knot addition to the side of the waistband for easy dressing and adjustable sizing.

• Back Bermuda consists of a removable chain running across the band with wire spiral charms.

• Bermuda hem will have side wire charms of your choice or the designers choice of spirals, your country flag, tambou, machete and more. Please put a description of the style wire charms you wish to have. Up to 4 with order, if you wish for more follow the additional add ons.
